I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta in the [Catchment and Wetland Science Research Group](https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fcaws.ualberta.ca%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AOvVaw2nbFFFrJ89jPvYByOSxeCm). I am studying the downstream effects of permafrost thaw in northern peatlands. I focus on methylmercury, a potent neurotoxin, in streams and ponds within peatland catchments across the Taiga Plains in northern Alberta and Northwest Territories. My research takes place on [Indigenous territory](https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fnative-land.ca%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AOvVaw1IyNNNreo-H09g5ccSB9d4) that that spans the land of the Gwitch’in, Dehcho Dene, Dene Tha’, Woodland Cree, Big Stone Cree, and Metis peoples.
