The IUCN UK Peatland Programme is pleased to announce a dedicated online seminar titled ‘Sphagnum planting in peatland restoration: Science and practice perspectives’. The session will have four speakers presenting on a range of topics pertinent to the theme. Each topic will last for 15 mins and there will be an unrecorded Q&A session. All presentations will be recorded and available after the seminar on our YouTube channel.

**Speakers:**

Richard Lindsay – University of East London, will consider the unique ecology of Sphagnum and its requirements for successful establishment.

Tim Parfitt – Beadamoss, will discuss challenges and successes of propagating Sphagnum and how plugs are selected for sites and readied for the conditions.

Anthony Blundell – University of Leeds, will discuss how the use of paleoecology can help to identify the best sites for planting.

Tom Spencer – Moors for the Future, will take us through their research on Sphagnum and discuss the practical aspects of planting in restoration projects.
