Watershed Webinar - State of the Watershed

LOCATION: Zoom Webinar
TIME: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Wednesday, December 2nd: A year after publishing NSWA's State of the Watershed analysis, Dr. Michelle Gordy will highlight the report's key findings and what they tell us about our watershed's health.

The 2025 report uses the Freshwater Health Index (FHI) to assess 27 indicators of watershed health from the western Alpine Reach to the rolling Foothills, the urban Parkland, and finally, the eastern Prairie Reach. Gordy will dive into water quality, stream connectivity, water availability, habitat, ecosystem services, and the functionality of environmental governance.

*Dr. Michelle Gordy is Director of Watershed Science at the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance, one of 11 Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils in Alberta. Dr. Gordy has a strong desire to close knowledge gaps and put science into action, recognizing that collaboration is a key component in driving change for a healthier watershed. Since 2018, her work at the NSWA has largely focused on assessing watershed condition and utilizing multi-stakeholder partnerships to drive improvements to watershed health.*
