This artistic creation has emerged from a collaboration between a PhD candidate, Geneviève Degré-Timmons and an artist, Emmanuelle Gendron, where they explored the synergies between natural science and visual art to translate complex ideas into a cohesive science-inspired painting. This painting illustrates the post-fire regeneration process of the boreal forest in relation to expected caribou habitat use. Along with the final piece, we also describe the inspiration behind this artistic pursuit and documented the creation process with photos. The painting was inspired by the Northwest Territories’ landscape and tells a vibrant story about the resilience of the boreal forest and caribou.
