This document is part of the 360 tours project Toolkit developed by Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) led by Cenovus Energy Inc., in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada. The ultimate goal of the 360 tours project is to improve accessibility to forest restoration knowledge for individuals that are unable to be in the field.

This document describes the importance of "ground truthing", the process of verifying that the information collected during desktop planning matches what is seen in the field. It can be found on their 360 tours site, which includes a silviculture toolkit containing videos, factsheets, guidebooks, and practical tips. In addition, the site includes virtual tours of previously restored sites.
