*Shepherdia canadensis* or Canada Buffaloberry is a widespread shrub in boreal forests. This shrub produces berries during the summer months that is a key habitat food source for wildlife, in addition to being a traditional food source of certain Indigenous groups. This species is also widely used in reclamation as a nitrogen-fixing species that can establish well in early successional forests and a variety of soil types.
