Demonstration of peatland restoration using the moss layer transfer technique

Join specialists to:

  •  
    • Define peatland degradation states (substrate, hydrology, phragmites);
    • Present the steps of peat extraction for growing (horticultural) substrates;
    • Demonstrate the moss layer transfer technique to restore peatlands harvested by vacuum extraction, including:
      • harvesting at the donor site, site preparation, spreading of sphagnum and straw, fertilization, and raising the water table;
    • Discuss reference ecosystems.

What to bring: Your lunch, tall rubber boots, and clothing suitable for all possible weather conditions. We’re hoping for nice weather (but just in case…)
