Wildlife Without Borders
Wildlife traverse many jurisdictional, cultural and social boundaries. While these delineations are largely human constructs, they may have serious implications for the fitness and survival of wildlife. Human perceptions, understanding and management can also vary greatly across these boundaries. As our approach evolves, our wildlife research also cross disciplinary boundaries from ecology to social science to Traditional Ways of Knowing and more.
How do we as wildlife biologists incorporate these transboundary, cross-cultural and societal paradigms in our research and outreach? What are the challenges and rewards of using wildlife as a lens to examine these boundaries in Alberta and beyond? How do interdisciplinary approaches change how we work and the implications of our work?
