SALMTEC Biophysical Bootcamp Field Course

SALMTEC designed this course for participants to get their hands dirty, interact with multiple Subject Matter Experts, hone field skills, and benefit from cross-disciplinary learning. Course topics include:

• Grassland Vegetation Inventory (GVI) in the field,
• The Alberta Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool – Actual (ABWRET-A),
• Field characterization of soil and terrain, and
• Plant identification.

Course learning objectives are:

• Basics of plant identification, including wetland plants
• Interpret imagery in the field
• Interpret the landscape
• Classify site types in the field
• Songbird, raptor and mammal wetland function assessment using ABWRET-A
• Characterize soil profiles
