SALMTEC Biophysical Bootcamp Field Training Course

SALMTEC designed this course for participants to get their hands dirty, interact with multiple Subject Matter Experts, hone field skills, and benefit from cross-disciplinary learning. Perfect for new graduates and new hires, as well as seasoned professionals looking to build their capacity.

Training Activities Include:

• Digging and characterizing soil pits, such as colouring, texturing, measuring, attributing,
• Identifying plants, and using identification tools,
• Classifying and applying an ecological land classification in the field, specifically Alberta’s Grassland Vegetation Inventory (GVI) , and
• Collecting wetland data inputs for the Alberta Wetland Rapid Evaluation Tool–Actual (ABWRET-A), focussing on the wildlife habitat function.
