We are excited to announce the upcoming 35th Alberta Native Plant Council Hybrid Workshop will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023. This year we will be hosting an in-person workshop at the Cattail Crossing Golf & Country Club, Sturgeon County, just northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, with an online option for those who cannot attend in-person. Our theme will be “How Plants Inspire Us”. Presenters and vendors will share how plants have guided them in their lives and careers from the field, to the kitchen, to the canvas, to traditions and culture.

The Keynote Speaker, Kalyn Kodiak, will set the tone for the workshop with her presentation titled “Lii Bonn Michinn / “The Good Medicine”: Inspirations from Métis Plant Culture”. To connect you to how plants inspire you, we will have two activity-based presentations. Connie Kulhavy will present on “Transitions: Traditional Methods-Contemporary Ways” and guide you through a beading activity, and Angie Patterson will discuss “Why Photo Native Wildflowers?” and will introduce you to photographing plants and nature.

During the workshop there will be vendors displaying and selling plant-themed items including floral prints and pins, Kusamono plant arrangements, plant-based beauty products, Métis beadwork and art, and plant books. In the evening we will hold the annual ANPC AGM, followed by the Banquet at the adjoining Out of Bounds Restaurant.
