This 2-day event will focus on the Boreal Transition Zone. The Tour will start from Edmonton and travel Northeast, exploring traditional and agricultural land use through soils, stopping overnight in Bonnyville. On the second day, the tour will focus on natural landscapes and the impact of industrial activity on soils, returning to Edmonton. The variety of parent materials covered will include morainal, glaciolacustrine and lacustrine sediments, eolian deposits and various types of bedrock.
The Alberta Soils Tour is an excellent training and networking opportunity for those working with soils, whether your focus is on soil conservation, land reclamation, or agronomy. Experts will provide background on soil formation and the various soil profiles for each landscape encountered during the tour.
