Description: Planning on conducting Grassland Conservation Assessments in Alberta? Then you will need a thorough understanding of the Grassland Vegetation Inventory (GVI). Through hands on activities and examples presented in instructional videos, this course provides participants with both a contextual and practical understanding of GVI using various real world management scenarios.

GVI, or Grassland Vegetation Inventory, is a biophysical and land use classification system specifically designed by the Government of Alberta (GoA) for the grassland region.  GVI provides an extensive array of natural upland, riparian and wetland classes. Coupled with anthropogenic (modified) land use classes, GVI is a robust system that captures the variety of biophysical land uses in the grasslands.
