The Grassland Vegetation Inventory is a land cover and land use classification system for the grasslands. GVI provides an extensive array of natural upland, riparian and wetland classes. Coupled with anthropogenic (modified) land use classes, GVI is a robust system that captures the variety of biophysical land uses in the grasslands.
Online videos and quizzes with associated workbook activities can be completed at your own pace. You have two years to complete the course and there are four opportunities for you to attend the requisite 2.5hr scheduled online class (April and December annually). This course has four learning modules and consists of online, offline and interactive components, as follows:
- Three to four online instruction videos per module
An online quiz per instruction video
Four offline activities
A 2.5-hour online interactive class
A final online exam
This course takes ~8 hours to complete. You can start immediately upon registration and must be finished by the end of Dec. 2027.
