96th Forest Industry Lecture Series
Murray Wilson is a retired Forester and filmmaker based in Vernon, British Columbia. A University of Alberta graduate, he spent nearly four decades working in forestry across British Columbia's Southern Interior, from wildfire suppression on helitack and rappel crews to logging supervision, harvest planning and woodlands manager roles. He later served as Stewardship and Tenures Manager for British Columbia and Manitoba with Tolko Industries.
Murray produced, wrote and directed B.C. Is Burning, an award-winning documentary examining wildfires and forest management. The film has screened in 15 British Columbia communities and surpassed 850,000 views on YouTube. He is currently producing Smoke Season, a new documentary centered in Alberta. It examines the public health impacts of wildfire smoke and the forest conditions driving increasingly severe fire seasons, along with
the management solutions that could reduce future risk.
