Start Date

Scott Davidson from Waterloo University will be presenting on December 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM MST on Impact of Linear Disturbances Across Peatlands in Northern Alberta.

Peatlands cover 12% of Canada's land area, with most located in boreal, subarctic regions. Furthermore, these peatlads store approximately 10% of global soil carbon stocks, yet are increasingly threatened by anthropogenic disturbances (e.g. resource extraction). This presentation will explore examples from recent and ongoing research on the impacts of linear disturbances (seismic lines) on ecosystem functioning across a variety of boreal peatlands in northern Alberta.
