Event Date and Time
February 15th, 2025 at 1:00pm MST to February 15th, 2025 at 3:00pm MST

Join us for a day of ice fishing, learning about lake science and water monitoring, and fun! With pre-drilled holes, loaner fishing rods from the Alberta Conservation Association's Kids Can Catch program, and no fishing licenses required on Alberta’s Family Fishing Weekend, there’s never a better opportunity to try ice fishing.

Learn about our winter lake monitoring program in partnership with Alberta Lake Management Society. We will be taking water samples and showing how we collect our data.

We will also have a local elder present to share their wisdom and knowledge about fishing and Sturgeon Lake.

Light snacks and refreshments will be available.

Tips for the day:

Bring warm clothes, a camping chair and your family and friends!
Bring a tobaggan to help bring your things (and kids) on to the ice
Pack sunglasses, water, a blanket and snacks

*This event may be subject to cancellation due to weather and ice condition.*
