The Forest Management and Wetland Stewardship Initiative (FMWSI) is a unique partnership between Ducks Unlimited Canada, Alberta Pacific Forest Industries Inc., Canfor, the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), West Fraser, Weyerhaeuser Company, and Tolko Industries to share knowledge, expertise, and resources to advance sustainable forest management and wetland stewardship in Canada’s boreal forest. Wetlands are prominent features across the boreal forest, a complex and interconnected forested landscape. The FMWSI members recognize the importance of the boreal forest and the critical roles wetlands play. Through two, 3-year initiatives, the FMWSI have worked collaboratively to develop knowledge, tools and resources to assist forest practitioners when working around in and around wetlands. This presentation will provide background to this innovative initiative and highlight the collaborative projects that have been undertaken.
