Webinar: Working With Beavers

Location

Canada

Event Date and Time
January 27th, 2026 at 12:00pm MST to January 27th, 2026 at 1:00pm MST

Beavers—Canada’s national animal—are nature’s original engineers. Their impressive dam-building and tree-felling abilities can dramatically shape landscapes, creating wetlands that store water, improve water quality, and support biodiversity. These “ecosystem engineers” play a vital role in strengthening watershed resilience across our country.

However, living alongside beavers can sometimes create challenges for landowners and land managers—from flooded roads and plugged culverts to damaged trees.

The Working With Beavers project aims to bridge this gap between conservation and coexistence. This webinar will explore how we can live and work harmoniously with these industrious animals through practical, cost-effective tools and strategies that reduce conflict while preserving the valuable ecosystem benefits beavers provide.

Participants will learn about proven solutions such as:

  • Culvert protectors to prevent flooding and infrastructure damage
  • Pond levelers to maintain stable water levels
  • Tree wrapping techniques to protect vegetation
