Pathogens challenge early stages of forest regeneration and pose a risk to large-scale tree planting efforts such as the 2 Billion Trees program. Infected seedlings can show reduced performance and undergo planting shock, endangering reforestation and afforestation efforts. This research project will improve capacity for identifying and detecting seed-borne pathogens, as well as inform management options for minimizing the risks they pose.
