In order to evaluate management options that may recover and sustain boreal caribou in the Athabasca Landscape area, the ALT developed scenarios and used simulation modeling to compare and evaluate the influence of different management levers on key indicators for caribou habitat quality or the size and persistence of caribou herds. Modeling was conducted to forecast likely caribou populations and habitat conditions under three scenarios including Non-Industrial, Business as Usual, and Alternative Futures.
