Canada is blessed with abundant forests. From the coast of British Columbia to the island of Newfoundland, Canada is home to 347 million hectares of forest. The 2 Billion Trees Program (2BT) is part of the Government of Canada’s comprehensive approach to nature-based climate solutions. It will contribute to Canada’s efforts to mitigate climate change, achieve key biodiversity and conservation goals, and contribute to human well-being. In the face of climate change, natural solutions such as increasing forest cover are sustainable and practical methods to help decrease our net global carbon emissions. Planting trees cannot solve climate change entirely, but trees are an essential part of the solution. To maximize benefits to Canadians, the right trees must be planted in the right places using methods that will ensure their survival. This guide aims to empower communities, organizations, and individuals with the information they need to plant healthy forests. Here you will find the tips and tricks to help you maximize the long-term success of your tree planting efforts.
