Optimizing 2 Billion Trees program (2BT) outcomes, including maximizing carbon sequestration, depends on planted trees surviving and thriving. This project will analyze existing information to estimate the potential for tree cover establishment in various locations in the western boreal region and provide an assessment of tree planting GHG impacts. This research can help 2BT proponents and staff identify areas that are better suited to tree planting, helping to secure trees that will endure over time and support GHG reporting.
