About

Denys Yemshanov is a Research Scientist with Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service, Great Lakes Forestry Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. His research involves the use of simulation and optimization to assess patterns and risks that affect various aspects of forest health and develop cost-effective management and mitigation solutions. He has particular expertise in risk modelling and optimization for invasive species and applying optimization methods for other broad-scale issues in forest systems (such as managing forest landscapes for connectivity, protection from wildfires and renewable resource use). The scale of his work is often national and continental in scope.
