Testing how habitat change and conservation solutions affect biodiversity.
James is a quantitative ecologist and conservation biologist interested in the links between biodiversity, habitats, and people. The goal of his research is to improve conservation solutions for biodiversity and to explain spatial and temporal patterns in the abundance of wildlife. Previous projects have focused on habitat selection, benefits of habitat creation and restoration, effectiveness of reintroductions and population reinforcements, the effects of parasites and pathogens on wildlife, and benefits of wildlife rehabilitation.
Research themes:
- The effects of habitat change on individuals, populations, and species.
- Evaluating and improving conservation solutions.
- Habitat selection and its link to wildlife fitness and abundance.
