Mayook Marsh: A Win for Wildlife and Water

On an oxbow of the Kootenay River east of Cranbrook, B.C., Mayook Marsh is a vibrant wetland ecosystem full of life. Situated on provincial Crown land, this marsh plays a critical role in supporting local biodiversity, providing habitat for many species of birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and small and large mammals. The marsh is managed by Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), and a recently completed restoration project in the marsh is a demonstration of the organization’s commitment to supporting wetlands not just for people, but for the abundant wildlife that spend so much of their lives there.
