Become a citizen scientist at the Wetland Centre at Evergreen park! How? By joining the summer 2021 bioblitz event! A bioblitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible. Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is hosting a BioBlitz at the Wetland Centre at Evergreen Park, County of Grande Prairie, Alberta from Thursday July 22, 2021 to Sunday July 25, 2021. Over this four-day period, visitors to the Wetland Centre will record species observations using the ABMI’s NatureLynx app. This is a no-cost event that is open to anyone to participate and all skill levels are welcome – you can record a couple of sightings during a quick dog walk or take a few hours to record as many sightings as possible! Your participation as a citizen scientist will improve our understanding of the variety of species present at the Wetland Centre. Getting to the site. Drive to the Evergreen Learning and Innovation Centre located in Grande Prairie County, AB. Grande Prairie County No. 1, AB T0H 1X0. Follow the signs for the Evergreen Learning and Innovation Centre. Visit the map on the Wetland Centre website (under contact) to see where free parking is available. The trailhead starts at that parking lot. After the event, join the Wetland Centre at Evergreen park NatureLynx group (https://naturelynx.ca/Groups/114/details) and submit your sightings if you are interested in can continue to be part of a virtual community of nature enthusiasts. The information you collect will improve our understanding of the diversity of fauna and flora on the Wetland Centre grounds at Evergreen Park.
