Boreal Wetland Conservation at Work

Presented by Bev Gingras, Kylie McLeod, Leanne Mingo and Franki Alo with Ducks Unlimited Canada

Wetlands dominate Canada’s boreal landscape and provide numerous ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, groundwater recharge and habitat. Because of their prominence, wetlands often overlap with areas of interest for forestry, oil and gas, utilities, and other industries. Ducks Unlimited Canada’s Boreal Conservation programs (CP) Team works with these groups as well as governments, Indigenous Peoples and others to promote sustainable land use practices by finding collaborative solutions.

DUC’s CP Team initiated the Wetland BMP Knowledge Exchange in 2016 and continues to facilitate it today. In this webinar we will present a brief history of the knowledge exchange as well discuss what’s next for the Exchange and highlight some of the key knowledge exchange projects our team is working on including a new field guide, work with our forestry partners and a new platform for sharing wetland information.
