Join Ducks Unlimited Canada for the launch of the Yukon Wetland Field Guide, DUC’s latest publication created in support of the Yukon Government’s “Policy for Stewardship of Yukon’s Wetlands”. The Yukon Wetland Field Guide is an essential tool for anyone interested in identifying and classifying wetlands, including industry practitioners, wetland guardians, government, educators, and more!
Co-authors and DUC Boreal Program team members James Kenyon and Jessie Lavallee-Whiffen will give attendees a guided tour through the field guide, demonstrating how to use wetland classification decision key and fact sheets to identify different wetland types in the field.
Developed in collaboration with Elders from across the territory, this guide offers important cultural perspectives and experience, providing insights into Traditional Ecological Knowledge and personal connections to Yukon wetlands. The guide includes an easy-to-use wetland classification decision key based on wetland vegetation, detailed fact sheets with information describing the characteristics for each wetland class, form, and type. Also included are profiles for identifying common wetland plants and the wetland classes they each inhabit. Important insights unique to Yukon’s wetlands can be found throughout the guide, including information on permafrost, soils, wildlife, and species at risk.
When: October 17th, 12:00-1:00 PM PST
