Breeding programs and strategies for four major tree species of Canada are presented, including Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco), jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lamb), the larch species (Larixspp.), and black spruce (Picea mariana (Mill.) B.S.P). The proposed breeding strategies for the species incorporate several new concepts and techniques for advanced-generational breeding plans.
