Indigenous peoples are the original harvesters of seeds across Turtle Island. The Indigenous Seed Collection Program (ISCP) supports communities in reclaiming seed conservation and stewardship practices – protecting species of cultural, medicinal, spiritual, and economic importance, preserving language, and supporting food sovereignty for future generations.
This Indigenous-led program offers field training, lab training, knowledge sharing, and seed storage support – all directed by and for partner communities.
This latest briefing note from the Canadian Conservation and Land Management (CCLM) Knowledge Network highlights the ISCP and its work – visit the link below to learn more and find out how your community can get involved: https://natural-resources.canada.ca/science-data/science-research/research-centres/indigenous-seed-collection-program.
