Increasing use and/or degradation of ecosystems requires development of effective strategies for restoration. Urban developments, industrial uses, including mining, oil and gas and forestry, as well as agricultural expansion impact ecosystems, either directly through habitat loss or indirectly by changing ecological conditions. This technical note presents the use of soil bioengineering systems for treatment of sites that have been damaged, degraded or destroyed by the activities of humans.
