About

I've always been passionate about protecting our fragile environment. As a child, I was frequently found trying to organize earth clubs and implement recycling programs at my schools. Later in life, I decided to learn as much as I could about the natural world around me. I completed my bachelors degree trying to understand how a changing climate might impact alpine plants in Alberta. Following that, I finished a master's degree in Science figuring out how we might be able to use microscopic animals to monitor mining pollution in northern Labrador. Finally, for my doctoral work, I moved on to studying coastal invertebrates in British Columbia to understand marine productivity.

Shortly after leaving the academic world, I found myself working for several interesting programs with Environment and Climate Change Canada. First, I was an environmental enforcement officer ensuring that our waterways were protected from polluters. Next, I worked with the Species at Risk Policy and Protection teams at the Canadian Wildlife Service. Most recently, I've been very fortunate to lead the coordination of the National Boreal Caribou Knowledge Consortium (NBCKC) alongside my team at the Wildlife and Landscape Science Directorate of ECCC. Find out more about the exciting work of this unique and collaborative conservation initiative that aims to generate, share and mobilize knowledge to support boreal caribou conservation and recover by visiting the links below.
