Genomic research at Trent University identifies distinct caribou ecotypes

Funding from Ontario’s Species at Risk Stewardship Program has allowed researchers to investigate the genomic fingerprints of Boreal, Eastern Migratory, and Lake Superior caribou. Analysis of genetic data provides insight into evolutionary origins, adaptations to habitat and climate change, as well as levels of inbreeding.
