In recent years, there has been an increasing effort by international organizations to develop indicators that can be used for tracking biodiversity and conservation targets. One of the key indicators used in reporting tracks how much of species’ ranges, and their associated habitats, are included in protected area networks. This presentation provides a snapshot of the current representation of habitats within Alberta’s protected area network and whether the rate of development is outpacing those conservation contributions.
