At the 14th North American Caribou Workshop in September 2012, John Cook presented some results from ongoing research done by a team from the US, Ontario and BC that looked at the role of nutrition in caribou survival and the implications for habitat conservation programs. Looking at 9 caribou herds, the influence of summer nutrition is discussed, as well as body fat and pregnancy data. There is considerable variation between herds in different regions. John Cook is a Research Biologist with the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement in the US.
