David Campbell, geospatial analyst at FORCORP, talks about recreation in Alberta and the importance of considering many different environmental factors before creating a trail. Given current and expected future demand for access to recreation, managers need assistance in planning.

The focus of the discussion is on The Trail Tool he created after travelling down about 70 000 km of trials and rating the level of disturbance on each one. Research that took weeks to months, now takes hours or days because of this tool.

On March 17, 2016 Alberta Agriculture and Forestry hosted a workshop about the Wet Areas Mapping Initiative Year Ten. The Alberta Land-use Knowledge Network recorded the presentations, and is happy to make them available here.
