In October 2020, Alberta and Canada signed the Agreement for the Conservation and Recovery of the Woodland Caribou in Alberta to facilitate woodland caribou recovery in Alberta. Alberta is committed to the implementation of this Agreement which supports provincial caribou recovery efforts including landscape-level planning, habitat conservation, management and recovery planning, caribou mortality and population management and caribou population and habitat monitoring. Alberta and Canada agreed to regularly report on the progress towards the commitments in this Agreement. This first report provides a summary of progress made and actions undertaken from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
