There are numerous community-based lake monitoring programs involving partnerships with Indigenous communities that can contribute to our collective understanding of watershed health and support communities in responding to environmental impacts. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to community-based monitoring, however, some critical lessons are emerging from existing programs seeking to work alongside Indigenous communities and their knowledge systems. In this moderated panel discussion, speakers Bradley Peter, Glinis Buffalo and Zoey Wang will share their experiences and insights on efforts to advance lake monitoring and stewardship in Alberta through partnerships between Indigenous, government and non-government organizations.
