Whitebark pine and limber pine are unique, slow-growing tree species found in Alberta’s mountains and foothills. Populations are rapidly declining, due to several threats, from invasive disease to mountain pine beetle.

Alberta’s recovery plans build on years of research and data to support effective restoration of these species and their fragile habitats. We collaborate with partners in Alberta, BC, and the USA to share knowledge, materials, and help each other achieve our common goal to recover the species and support the wildlife and watersheds they sustain.
