A 2019 report from the Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board detailing its response to management plans for the Bathurst herd put forward by the Tlicho Government and the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board is responsible for wildlife management in Wek’èezhìı and shares responsibility for managing and monitoring the Kǫ̀k’èetı̀ekwǫ̀ (Bathurst caribou) herd. In November 2018, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Government of the Northwest Territories reported that, in their view, the Kǫ̀ k’èetı̀ekwǫ̀ herd had continued to decline significantly and that further management actions were required.
