Dr. Jonathan Ruppert is a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto. In this presentation he addresses some of the threats facing woodland caribou in the boreal, and the effects on wood supply.

In northern Ontario there is a caribou mosaic plan used with regards to timber harvesting as a means of preserving caribou habitat. The plan, however, could be better at integrating economic values. In addition, the value of a stand of forest to caribou should be considered.

Dr. Jonathan Ruppert's presentation on October 3, 2014 was part of the University of Alberta's Department of Renewable Resources seminar series.
