Andy Ridge, executive director for Water Policy at AESRD, moves onto the overall land planning and integrated resource management concepts that are guiding the development of Alberta's new tailings management framework.
He describes the three elements of management frameworks (limits, monitoring and response) and how that is informing the policy development of tailings management from the Government of Alberta and the operational regulation from the Alberta Energy Regulator.
Andy Ridge's presentation was a keynote address at the Oil Sands Tailings 2014 Conference, Lake Louise, Dec. 8-10, 2014 organized by the University of Alberta's Oil Sands Tailings Research Facility (OSTRF).
