The Province of British Columbia developed a set of infographics as part of an Indigenous consultation and public engagement process seeking input from First Nations, stakeholders, and the general public regarding the continuation of predator reduction to support caribou recovery. The infographics are meant to educate readers through a series of graphics and text outlining 1) The general science behind caribou declines in BC, 2) The general science explaining the reasoning for predator reduction, 3) A summary of the predator reduction activities that have taken place in BC in recent years, and 4) The caribou population response to predator reduction that has been monitored and measured thus far.
It is recommended that the set of infographics be presented and read in the following order:
- Background Science Part 1 (current file),
- Background Science Part 2,
- Results Part 1,
- Results Part 2.
